In plain words

What we do and do not claim

Research on chiropractic care in pregnancy and for babies is limited, and results vary. We would rather tell you what we do than promise what we cannot.

  • What we do

    • Listen, examine and explain

    • Adjust with pillow and side-lying support, if Dr. Lofton recommends it and you agree

    • Describe the Webster technique plainly if you ask about it

    • Show you ways to sit, sleep, lift and carry

    • Tell you the risks before any care, and stop when you ask

    • Write to your OB, midwife or pediatrician only when you say so

  • What we do not claim

    • That chiropractic changes how a pregnancy or a birth goes

    • That it helps a baby's feeding, sleep, digestion, ears or breathing

    • That it can treat or prevent anything about a pregnancy or a baby's health

    • That it replaces prenatal care, well-baby visits or your doctor's advice

    • That results are the same for everyone

Why we say it this way

Chiropractic care is hands-on care of the spine, pelvis and other joints. A visit can include a talk, an exam, light adjusting and movement guidance. That is what we describe, and it is all we describe.

If a claim about pregnancy, birth or babies comes from a website, ask where it comes from. Your OB, midwife or pediatrician is the right person to ask, and we are glad to answer too.

Questions before you book?

Call or write. Dr. Lofton answers plainly, including when the answer is that your OB should.
