Questions we hear

If yours is not here, call or write. Dr. Lofton answers plainly.

What happens at my first visit?

You talk with Dr. Lofton, she does a short exam and she tells you what she finds. Care begins only if you agree. Plan on about an hour. Your first visit has the full steps.

Is chiropractic care safe?

Every kind of care has risks. Soreness after an adjustment is common and usually short. Rare serious problems have been reported after neck adjustments, so Dr. Lofton explains the risks before any care, and you can say no to any part of a visit. Research on chiropractic care in pregnancy and for babies is limited, so she works with your OB, midwife or pediatrician's plan. For bleeding, leaking fluid or a change in your baby's movements, call your OB or midwife first. For a sudden severe headache, new weakness or numbness, chest pain or loss of bladder or bowel control, call 911.

Will it hurt?

Most people feel pressure, not pain, and some feel sore afterward. In pregnancy we use pillows and side-lying positions, and we stop whenever you ask.

How many visits will I need?

Dr. Lofton sets a plan with you after the exam and changes it as your pregnancy or your baby's first months go. We do not promise a number of visits, and you can stop at any time.

Do you take my insurance?

We bill many health plans and are out of network with others. Call with your plan's name and we will tell you what applies. How fees work explains the rest.

What if I do not use insurance?

You pay at the visit, and you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate. Ask us, and we give you a written estimate before the visit. You can also ask for an itemized receipt to send to your plan.

Do I need x-rays?

We take x-rays only when medically necessary. Most first visits have none. If you are pregnant, Dr. Lofton talks with your OB or midwife first.

Can I bring my child, or come while I am pregnant?

Yes to both. A parent stays with a baby for the whole visit. In pregnancy, visits use pillows and side-lying positions. We do not claim that care changes how a pregnancy or a birth goes. What we do and do not claim says more.

What if I have already seen another provider?

Tell us who, and what they told you. With your okay, Dr. Lofton writes to them. We will not ask you to choose between us and your OB, midwife or pediatrician.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please call us as early as you can if you need to change a visit. Ask the front desk about our cancellation policy.

Still wondering?

Call or write. We would rather answer before you book.
