Birth team
Who is on your birth team
Most people in pregnancy see more than one person. Here is each person's part, and where Dr. Lofton fits beside them.
Your OB
Leads your prenatal care and may deliver your baby.
Their part: your exams, tests and the plan for the birth
Our part: ask you to call them first with any question about the pregnancy
Your midwife
Cares for you through pregnancy, birth and afterward.
Their part: your prenatal visits and the plan for the birth
Our part: share a short note with your okay, and defer to them
Your doula
Supports you with comfort, information and presence.
Their part: support before, during and after the birth
Our part: show you both ways to sit, move and rest
Your child's pediatrician
Cares for your baby's health from the first days.
Their part: well-baby visits and your baby's health
Our part: short newborn visits as an addition, with a parent present
Dr. Lofton
Your chiropractor, with a quiet room and unhurried visits.
Her part: examine, explain, adjust if you want it, guide movement
She does not claim to change a pregnancy, a birth or a baby's health
How we work with your team
You decide who hears what
- 01
Step 1: You tell us who is on your team
At your first visit, or before. You choose who we may write to.
- 02
Step 2: We write only with your okay
With your permission, Dr. Lofton sends a short note about what she did. You can read it first.
- 03
Step 3: Their questions go to them
If something comes up that belongs to your OB, midwife or pediatrician, we ask you to call them, and we can help you make the call.
- 04
Step 4: You stay in charge
You can change who we write to, or stop, at any time.
Tell us who is on your team
Name them when you write, or ask for the birth-team list.
