First visit

What happens at your first visit

A conversation, a short exam and a plan, in about an hour. Nothing is adjusted until you understand it and agree.

You do not fill out health details on this website. Intake forms come from the front desk, on paper or by a link we send you, and you can ask for help with them.

Step by step

Your hour

  1. 01

    Step 1: Arrive and settle

Come a few minutes early. There is a quiet place to wait, and a place for a stroller or a car seat.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Talk

Dr. Lofton asks how you are doing and what you would like from the visit. Tell her who is on your birth team.

  3. 03

    Step 3: A short exam

She looks at how you sit, stand and move. We take x-rays only when medically necessary. If you are pregnant, she talks with your OB or midwife first.

  4. 04

    Step 4: She explains

Dr. Lofton tells you what she found and what she does not know, and describes any care she suggests and its risks.

  5. 05

Step 5: Care, only if you agree

If you say yes, she begins. You can stop at any point, and you can say no to any part.

  6. 06

Step 6: A plan and the cost

She sets a plan with you and gives you the cost in writing before you pay. We do not promise a number of visits.
