Care
Movement guidance
Ways to sit, sleep, lift and carry, shown in person and written down to keep.
Dr. Lofton watches how you move through a day and shows you changes you can try at home. It is general guidance, not a prescribed exercise program.

What to expect
What a visit includes
Dr. Lofton watches how you sit, stand, get up from a chair and lift, and shows you changes to try. She writes them down so you can use them at home and share them with a doula.

How long and how often
One visit may be all you want. Some people come back as their needs change. Dr. Lofton does not set a number of visits.
What we do not claim
We do not claim that any movement or position changes how a pregnancy or a birth goes. Movement guidance is general. If you want a prescribed exercise program, ask your OB or midwife about a physical therapist.
See your OB or midwife first
Ask them before you start anything new, especially if you have been told to limit your activity. Call them first, or go to an emergency room, for bleeding, leaking fluid or a change in your baby's movements.
At the visit or through your plan, depending on how you pay. How fees work explains insurance, receipts and the written estimate we give before the visit.
Questions about movement guidance
Do I need a visit for this, or is it part of other visits?
Both. Guidance is part of every visit, and you can book one visit for guidance alone.
Will you give me exercises?
Dr. Lofton shows you ways to sit, sleep, lift and carry. She does not write exercise programs.
Can my doula or partner learn the positions too?
Yes. Bring them, and she will show them too.
Book a movement visit
One visit can be enough. Tell us what part of your day you would like to change.
- A sudden severe headache or neck pain, dizziness, trouble speaking or seeing, new weakness or numbness, numbness in the groin or saddle area (between the legs and buttocks), or new bladder or bowel trouble needs emergency care now. Call 911 or go to an emergency room.
